A full-time position in Marketing at Assistant Professor level


emlyon business school is looking for a Marketing professor, specialized in one or more of the following areas: digital marketing, AI in marketing, luxury marketing, strategic marketing, marketing research, consumer intelligence, new product development, pricing, communication, go to market, retail marketing, marketing ethics, etc.

The selected candidate is willing to contribute to and participate in collaborative research projects and associated
teaching on these marketing topics with other members of the Marketing Department and the school research centers.

Applications are invited at Assistant Professor level - primary focus on research - beginning full time in
September 2022 in Lyon / Ecully campus, with possible travels to the other French campuses (Paris, Saint- Étienne).

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • PhD / doctorate degree in Marketing or related area
  • a strong research orientation and publication pipeline, with an ambition to publish in the top management journals in their respective research field (e.g., FT list)
  • experience of teaching in English at different levels (e.g., undergraduate and/or masters)
  • ability to merge theoretical knowledge with practical relevance and to build and manage relationships with practitioners (e.g., company-oriented research projects)
  • desire to collaborate in a collegial and dynamic teaching and research team
  • willingness to travel among our other French campuses (Paris, Saint- Étienne)


The candidate will be expected to contribute to and is regularly evaluated based on three areas of activities: (1) research performance, 2) teaching and student supervision, and (3) institutional service (e.g., administration, service in committees, representation of the school in the media and events).

Fluency in English is required. Speaking French is not a requirement but holding French basic notions will be an asset. For non-French professors basic language support is offered at emlyon.
