A full-time position in Corporate Finance at Assistant, Associate/ Full professor level
THE POSITION
emlyon business school is looking for applications to fill one position primary focus in Research in Corporate Finance at the Assistant / Associate / Full professor level (depending on qualifications) starting September 2023. The position is full-time, based at Lyon campus (Lyon / Ecully), with possible travels to our French (Paris or St. Etienne) or foreign campuses.
We are looking for candidates of excellent research quality who will join the Accounting and Corporate Finance department. Successful candidates are expected to contribute to or lead collaborative research projects, publishable in top-quality academic outlets. Successful candidates are also expected to deliver high-quality teaching in topics related to their research areas, potentially in collaboration with other members of the department. Teaching opportunities are at the undergraduate, graduate (masters), and MBA levels.
We consider applications from researchers in all areas of Corporate Finance. Candidates with greater fit with topics studied by current members of the department will be given priority. For information, current department members have expertise in M&A, corporate governance, and entrepreneurial finance. Their research has been published in reputed top tier peer reviewed journals in finance, management, and entrepreneurial finance (Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Business Venturing, Research Policy, European Accounting Review, etc.) The faculty is organized in several inter-disciplinary research centers, and each faculty member can be part of several of them. The current research centers in which members of Accounting and Finance faculty department are involved are:
- Entrepreneurship and Innovation
- French Institute of Corporate Governance

JOB REQUIREMENTS
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications in line with their level of application:
- PhD / doctorate degree in Finance or related area
- A research orientation, leadership, and publication pipeline, demonstrated by capacity to publish in the top journals in their respective research field (e.g., FT or ABS list)
- Evidence of excellent teaching achievements at different levels (undergraduate, masters...).
- Candidates are expected to teach in English as well as in French
- Desire to collaborate in a collegial and dynamic research team
- Desire and ability to support junior level researchers and supervise doctoral students (associate / full professor levels)
- Willingness to travel among our other French campuses (Paris, St. Etienne)
The candidate will be expected to contribute to and is regularly evaluated based on three areas of activities: (1) research performance, (2) teaching and student supervision, and (3) institutional service including selection juries (e.g., administration, service in committees, representation of the school in the media or events).
