Un programmeur Recherche et un enseignant en data science

The Data R&D Institute, a new initiative in data science and data analytics at em-lyon business school, seeks a part-time teacher, part-time research coder. We seek a programmer who is flexible and careful, speaks Python, SQL (and no-SQL as needed), some machine learning, Pandas, NLP, and ideally has some experience with web apps or is interested in learning. Use of AWS ecosystem and R would also be nice to have. We collaborate with research faculty on social media projects involving text and image analysis and data mining. There are opportunities for data-oriented projects across business domains from marketing to strategy and finance.

We teach introductory data analysis and machine learning classes using the tools above, as well as Excel, Tableau or Qlikview, and other data analysis software. Help is required in teaching these courses and/or grading homework. Interest and ability to teach new programmers is mandatory.

In short, competencies that we are seeking in an ideal candidate (recognizing that not all might exist in one person):
• Python data analysis (pandas, numpy, scipy)
• Machine learning (scikit-learn)
• AI interest (neural net libraries like tensorflow or pytorch)
• SQL, interest in no-SQL as well (we also use Redis, mongo, elasticsearch)
• NLP (text mining)
• Web skills (or interest in learning)
• Good excel skills (pivot tables, customized charts)
• Use of AWS, S3 and/or Google/Azure platforms
• Familiarity with market research, finance, or other business domains (nice to have)

This role would be an excellent post-PhD or junior role for a developer with interest in teaching and practicing their coding skills on faculty research data projects. There is opportunity for co-authorship as well, for the right candidate. More senior candidates with strong skills in teaching and research coding would of course be welcome to apply!
